Todos Santos, used to be a sleepy little fishing, sugarcane farming and ranching town. This oasis is located on the Pacific Coast on Highway 19, halfway between La Paz and Los Cabos, its mission, Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz, was founded in 1723. Todos Santos is home to the Hotel California, where The Eagles’ song of the same name was reportedly inspired. It is listed as a Pueblo Magico, for its own magical blend of ancient tradition and modernity.
There is world-class surfing at nearby beaches such as Cerritos Beach and a high concentration of artists from all over the US, Mexico, and Europe who live and work for at least part of the year in Todos Santos, sustaining a plethora of galleries, wine bars, and gourmet restaurants nestled in between taco stands and traditional cafes.
Every year there is a popular philanthropic music festival, run by REM’s Peter Buck and a thriving film festival. Colorado State University has just opened a campus as part of a new tourist development.
