Chanukah or Hanukkah (spellings vary). Chanukah 2017 begins at sunset on Tuesday, December 12, and ends at sundown on Wednesday, December 20. Chanukah is Hebrew for “dedication,” and is celebrated with the Festival of Lights commemorating the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrian Greek army, and the subsequent miracle of rededicating the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and restoring its menorah or lamp. The miracle celebrated is that only one vial of oil was found with just enough oil to illuminate the Temple lamp for one day, and yet it lasted for eight full days.
The Los Cabos Jewish Center invites all the public to join in the celebration of this miracle with the lighting of the Giant Menorah. Expect music and dancing and the hilarious Rabbi Benny who shares his passion for life in English and Spanish, and Hebrew, as well as latkes, dreidels, gelt, a raffle and much more. No cost. Donations accepted. For more information contact: Rabbi BenzionHershcovich or Mrs. Sonia Hershcovich, Co-director of the Cabo Jewish Center at: firstname.lastname@example.org 52-624-143-5702
