We are back in full swing! After a hot and quiet summer, the streets behind the church in San José del Cabo’s ever growing Gallery District are once again buzzing with people, color and creativity. This season opened officially on Thursday the 27th of October with the first Art Walk, and it was a great success! All the galleries had many visitors: some new faces and some die-hard local Art Walk fans. Not to be confused with the artisans set up in the main square, the heart of the Art Walk lies in the cumulative international roster of hundreds of artists, artisans and talent that are within the walls of the 14 official galleries of the Gallery District. Art Walk is a collaborative event that happens every Thursday behind the Main Square on the streets of Guerrero, Obregon, Morelos, Comonfort and Hidalgo. It is a wonderful weekly event where the galleries welcome guests to enjoy an evening strolling San Jose’s Gallery District, viewing art, sipping wine and dining at our fabulous neighborhood restaurants. All who participate stay open until 9pm and often certain galleries will have special events such as “artist in attendance” or openings of new work. It is definitely the most hopping night to come downtown and enjoy what our district has to offer! The Art Walk is a self-guided tour, and all of the galleries have brochures with maps to help guide you around to the must-see spots of the District. Thursday night Art Walks run through the end of June.
